SCADA for water and wastewater, built on Ignition.

We have built and modernized Ignition systems for a wastewater agency, a water authority with several member districts, a city utility and an oilfield water operator. Customers are described by type rather than by name.

What we built

Four water systems we built

Each is a real project. Hours shown are billed engineering hours.

About 900 hours

A California wastewater agency

Modernized the agency's Ignition Perspective SCADA for a treatment plant and its pumping stations: reusable equipment objects, process screens that pan and zoom on desktops and tablets, multi-tab trending, an operator logbook tied to alarms, trends and audit events, live alarm dashboards, and sign-on through Active Directory and Microsoft Entra.

A California water authority

Replaced its SCADA with one Ignition platform for several member districts, with an equipment hierarchy, map-based site filtering, device management, trending and alarming. It is structured so each district's data can be separated later.

About 1,500 hours

A Texas oilfield water operator

Cloud-hosted Ignition SCADA on AWS for treatment skids, tanks and pits at remote sites, over cellular and VPN. We moved the skid communications to a standard Modbus scheme and added daily emailed reports, a self-service report scheduler, truck tracking and PLC-triggered transfer batching.

A city water utility

An electronic operator logbook with versioned entries, attachments, links to work orders, permissions, and email alerts to supervisors.

Wastewater process overview from Artek's public Ignition demo, with lift station wet wells, an equalization tank, aeration and membrane basins, effluent storage and a sludge tank.

What we bring

What we deliver for water and wastewater

Most of our water work modernizes systems that are already in service. We deliver in releases and work alongside the operators who run them.

  • Perspective SCADA. Process screens, faceplates and reusable equipment objects that work on a desktop, a tablet or a phone
  • Operator logbooks. Shift entries tied to alarms, trends and audit events, with attachments and supervisor alerts
  • Alarm reporting. Live alarm dashboards and analysis of which alarms occur most often, which last longest, and when
  • Sign-on and permissions. Active Directory and Microsoft Entra, with a role-based permission matrix
  • Remote sites. Cellular and VPN connections, Modbus, and cloud-hosted gateways on AWS
  • Groundwater analytics. Pump tests, pump curves and interference between wells
Questions

Common questions

Can you work alongside the integrator we already have?+

Yes. On our largest wastewater project we delivered in releases alongside the agency's other integrator, with ownership of each part of the system agreed at the start.

Can operators use the screens on a tablet?+

Yes. Perspective runs in a browser, and we build process screens that pan and zoom on desktops and tablets.

How do you handle sign-on and permissions?+

We have set up sign-on through Active Directory and Microsoft Entra with a role-based permission matrix, so viewing and editing rights are managed in one place. Remote sites connect over VPN.

Will Ignition work for remote sites on cellular?+

Yes. One system we built monitors remote treatment skids, tanks and pits over cellular and VPN from a cloud-hosted Ignition gateway, with daily reports emailed automatically.
